This weekend is going to sizzle – and we’re not talking about the weather.
Not only is it Memorial Day weekend, one of the biggest cookouts of the year, but Saturday, May 28, is also National Burger Day. So even if you’re not the god or goddess of grilling – or you have to miss a picnic because you’re working, it should be easy to satisfy your sandwich cravings. If you are going to take the burger-cooking into your own hands this weekend, make sure you do it safely. After all, you don’t want to go down in family or neighborhood history as the person who gave everyone food poisoning.
Patties made of ground beef, pork, veal or lamb should reach 160° Fahrenheit, according to the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service. Use a meat thermometer to make sure you’ve hit the target temperature. Here’s a list of the burger deals on offer, just in case.
